Marina
Mascarell
Creative producing
Marina Mascarell is one of the most exciting voices in European dance. She is interested in a rebellious body characterised by questioning ‘normativity’: the dancing body as a form of resistance, deeply rooted in a political and social action.

Together with Marina I have established a new foundation Stichting MEI (S): an alternative space and structure and a nurturing and listening environment, that both makes art pieces and that impacts art practices.

Netizenship
Convening
I co-created (with Georgina Bednar, No Ordinary Experience) and led the project Netizenship for the British Council in Spring 2021, bringing together 38 young filmmakers from youth-led media platforms Boubli in Tunisia and Million Youth Media in the UK, with the twin objective of sharing experiences and making a joint film about an issue that mattered to them.

The film Blossom | زهر received its online premiere at Raindance Film Festival in 2021.
espaço
agora now
Founder
espaço agora now is an ambitious project that celebrates radical imagination and radical artists as illuminating and galvanising forces in the centre of society.
more
The vision is to create a network of spaces for residencies in different cities around the world, where artists in the performance fields will have time, kinship and resources to explore and test ideas at the earliest point in the creative process. They will be welcoming spaces that offer artists and communities an alternative space to gather and exchange ideas. The project started as the seed of an idea in 2019 and is now driven by a growing movement of 200 extraordinary artists representing 42 nationalities. We expect to open 5 first spaces in 5 different cities around the world in 2024.
